Pins like that are usually made out of material that is MRI-safe. The technicians will screen you beforehand and can suggest a different test if it's not safe.

A person should not have a MRI after having pins put in for at least three to six months. The MRI can dislodge the pins from your back. MRI is a big magnet.

Depending on the type of pins used and the strength of the magnet in the MRI machine, it could possibly cause discomfort and could cause distortion in the images. Most MRI machines these days are not usually effected by surgical pins, however. To be safe, though, be sure you tell the technologist that you do have them.

Pins, cages and plates that are often placed in and around the spine during fusion do not affect getting MRI's. Surgical procedures that one needs to take care with MRI's include pacemakers and clips especially aneurysm clips. These can move with the MRI's magnet.
