Certain hernias depending on the severity can be fixed through exercise and a routine given to you by a doctor. However an umbilical hernia relating to pregnancy is not one of those kinds of hernias. I am sorry to say surgery is the only way to correct this kind of hernia.

Depending on the severity of the hernia it may close up on its own or pose no risks in its current state. You can ask for a second (or third) opinion to see if this is a possibility. Otherwise, surgery is likely the only option.

All hernias are structural defects in the peritoneum and overlying layers, thus surgery is the only correction. There are devices to prevent it from getting worse, but nothing that will cure.

Sometimes hernias can be repaired through special exercises that you could do, that will improve your muscles in the area of the hernia, and the hernia will resolve itself. You might need to consult a specialist for those exact exercises - your doctor should be able to refer you.

Well, I do not think so. Usually hernia's require surgical repair due to the intense nature of the hernia. Therefore, surgery is your best and only option I believe. Therefore, it is better to do it by surgery.

There are no effective non surgical option becuase the hernia is caused by an anatomical defect and needs to be closed to prevent it from reoccuring.

Sometimes hernia can be repaired by some simple excercises which will tighten the muscles and the hernia will come down gradually but for these you have to consult a doctor for the sort of excercises to be done.
