The people who believe that the Earth may be destroyed by asteroids have legitimate reason for concern. It is possible that previous asteroid strikes have causted cataclysmic climate changes resulting in mass extinctions. Governments have ICBM to address such issues.

Yes. There are people who believe that Earth will be destroyed by asteroids because the base their conclusion on what other planets look like. Anyone can see that Mars and the Moon are pocked with craters. It is from these impact marks indicate that the possibility exists.

I wouldn't classify them as "people" necessarilly. And if Preparation H works for hemmorhoids, I can only assume that Preparation A (special rocket ship?) would work for asteroids. Both problems are a real pain in the fanny. Most real "people" choose to ignore these problems until it is too late.
