Model trains are collectible and 0 scale versions are popular. To determine your train's worth, find the manufacturer's mark. Lionel, American Flyer or Marx are sought after brands.

Actually, yes they are. I've seen them go for upwards of 1000 dollars. It just depends on the brand, condition, year it was made, and so much more. Try getting it appraised at an antique shop if you know it's old, or check around online for your set!

Old model trains usually increase in value, because they are very popular collectibles. If they are still working you might get a very good price for it.

It honestly depends on when they were made as well as how nice they look. If you believe they are valuable, try to auction it.
