To a degree, the innate ability to heal oneself has not been used that much in modern medicine as an active form of health promotion. In weight loss, however, this is a mantra that is very commonly sold--that we ourselves can control our weight by regulating our bodies. As a result, someone who actively focuses on this area could help.

In general terms, you may lose weight, but you won't specifically lose weight through a naturopathic physician. Naturopathic care is really for overall health improvement, and you will learn about the important basic functions of your body.

Naturopaths do not have the knowledge or credentials to prescribe appropriate medicine or dietary guidelines for weight loss. Neither do they have the knowledge to adjust your diet for what medications or medical conditions you may have.
