You can grow red maple trees in the Dallas, Texas, area. One kind of red maples, the October Glory, is well suited to the Texas area more than most. Red maples can tolerate heat and produce beautiful fall colors to enjoy.

It's not goint to be the best choice for Dallas but will grow in the right soils which vary greatly all over the metroplex. Needs well drained soils and plenty of water when it gets hot. Watch for borers!

According to aborday. org, the beautiful red maple will grow in various soils and in zones 3-9. Texas is zones 8 and 9, so yes, it should do just fine in Dallas. When mature will also make a gorgeous shade tree during summer!

It will definitely be more difficult, because these trees prefer cooler temperatures (their range is from Canada and all down the eastern seaboard of the US). If you prepare the soil so it is rich and well drained, you could try to grow them. Don't buy young saplings; get them at 4-5 feet already, so they'll be stronger.
