Absolutely in no way shape or form should you try to dye your hair to blonde yourself. It will turn an orangey red. Only a professional hair dresser can bring your hair down through the levels necessary to become blonde. Get a professional opinion as to what is required to turn dark hair to light. Its not an easy task.

Not without bleaching it first. I have reddish brown hair (not even near black) and I was told at a beauty store I could go darker without bleaching, but not lighter. I don't know anyone who has tried without bleaching, but I think it makes sense what the beautician told me. Dark hair would overpower the light color.

No, you need to strip your hair of the black. You will be suprised that your hair will be orange in this process and then you can use blonde dye. For this procedure I would use a professional or only go back one color at a time until you reach a color that will change to blonde.

That depends on whether your blond dye is bleach based. In order to go lighter, from any colour, you need bleach/peroxide as opposed to just a color.

You can put blonde hair dye over black hair color, but it might not be very effective. First, you need to bleach your hair, wait a bit, then try dying it blonde.

Not a good idea, the hair may not turn blonde it most likely turn orange and be very hard on your hair, you need to strip out the black 1st.
