If you are thinking about removing the trim from around the top I would say think twice. Although it is possible to remove it you have the possibility of breaking the glass and then the problem of getting a different lighting system because your old light will not fit on your tank anymore.

You can remove the trim with a simple razor blade. Carefully work the blade around the trim to get it off of the glass. You may possibly need some Windex or Goo Gone to completely remove any leftover traces once the majority of the trim is taken off.

Yes you can remove it without the tank horribly failing; however, the tank will look like crap. The excess silicone around the top edges will be an eye sore, so you will have to take the time to remove that. Even if you do that pray that the top edges are smoothed.

You can but it is not a good ideal.IT regulates the water's weight. With out the trim water pressure might pull the seal's apart causing a leak.

You can remove it with a razor blade between the glass and silicone and then try peeling it away. The tank will not look right with the trim missing though.

It is possible to remove the trim of a fish tank but it is not recommended. Most fish tanks have a glass canopy that is held in place by the rim itself. Without glass the glass tops, the water in the tank will evaporate quickly creating more work for the caregiver.

Yes, you can remove the trim from around the top of a fish tank. However, you must realize that by doing so you will compromise the strength and integrity of the tank itself and jeopardize the life of your fish.

Removing the trim around the top of a fish tank is perfectly acceptable. The only problem is that the trim is there to hold on the lid and also helps the the support and structural integrity of the tank. Without this support the tank has a better chance of breaking.
