One may use a Sprint cell phone in China. Check the sprint website to ensure that your phone model will work in the city that will be visited. The rates are $2. 29/min for voice service or $1. 99/min with an international plan. Data rates are 0. 016 cents/kb or 0. 002 cents/kb for 1x service.

I wouldn't count on it. I went to mexico, called them to turn on the international roaming or whatever it is they call that capability, and nothing would work.. i couldn't place or receive any calls or texts. I couldn't even call my voice mail, so i would be very careful what you try to accomplish.

Sprint has roaming agreements in China (China Unicom) and your concern about rates will be determined by your plan. If you have a Simply Everything or Any Mobile Any Time Sprint plan, they you will pay no additional fees. As for coverage, you will need to view a China Unicom coverage map for more details.

You can use your Sprint cell phone in China but the rates will be out of sight. Without access to a sim card, you will be forced to pay high roaming charges. The best advice I have is to get a pay as you go phone while you're gone.

The frequency is different from in the U. S. Sprint uses either 1900 mhz or 1900 mhz and 800 mhz in their phones. China uses 900 mhz and 1800 mhz. Sprint uses CDMA. China (and most of the world) uses GSM. So even if your phone could handle the frequency it does not use the same kind of signal.

China's cellular network uses two different cellular format GSM (the New AT&T and T-Mobile) and TDMA (the original AT&T network, whereas Sprint phones are based on the CDMA network and the Nextel on the iDEN network neither are compatible.
