Can salvia grow in Houston?

With all the talk about legalizing pot, I think salvia could make a go right now. I don't know if it will thrive in Houston or not.

Obtaining the cutting or growing from seeds, salvia is fast growing plant. It does require light shade, or filtered sunlight and humidity rather than dry air. Warm temperatures, but not over 80 degrees. While Houston can be humid, it also gets very hot and salvia may not do well.

In any case that's worth a try. Seen on a global scale the Houston climate is not that much different from the native region of salvia in a Mexican mountain region. (Up in Alaska you would face a problem.)The content of hallucinogenic substances may be a littler lower under less than optimal conditions, but the plant is quite hardy.

It could grow in Houston since the climate will do fine with it. You will have to make sure that you have good soil though otherwise it will not take. Giving it plant food would be a great way to make sure that they both grow healthy as well as strong.

Salvia is the latin name for thr group of plants that sage belongs to, and of course sage grows in Houston. People grow sage on the balconies, gardens and kitchens.

Salvia loves heat, but doesn't like to be excessively dry. I don't really know what you are talking about, but it think it would do fine there.
