Yes, keep the tank clean otherwise fingal infection is very common and very panful for the turtles. Treat immediately, it could affect internal organs if it is prolonged.

While algae growing in a turtle's aquarium is normal, if the algae is not washed off the turtle even so often, then a fungus can develop on the turtle's shell. To remove the algae, hold the turtle under warm water from the tap and wipe it gently with a soft vegetable brush.
