Can you compare a Honda CV Boot versus a split boot repair?

I need to know the difference between the two different repair techniques.

A Honda CV Boot repair is definitively the more expensive route here. This entails completely replacing the part in question resulting in much less money being in your wallet. The split boot repair is a band aide if you will, that involves cropping the part into two separate ends but is almost just as effective.

If the cv boot is torn but the cv joint is not damaged you can simply replace the boot with a split boot that is placed over the joint and the seams glued together. If the cv joint is bad then the axle shaft will need to be removed from the transaxle and replaced with a new shaft.

Honda CV Boot is an exact OEM replacement. Split boot literally is split all the way on one side allowing for install without removing any major parts. Go with OEM.

Honda and most other large manufacturers use a one piece seamless boot that requires disassembly of the cv axle in order to service. A split boot is a short cut repair that just wraps around where your old boot should be and clamps in place.

Completely replacing the CV boot would be the correct way. The split boot will install with the axle on the car but will leak and is a temporary fix.

Well oem style boot are simply one piece or protective rubber without the split down the length. This means that they offer better protection since debris could possibly get in the split of the boot. However for this kind of replacement the boot must be slipped over the shaft. This means a lot more work has to be done.

Oem boots are typically one piece. This means the suspension will have to come off on one end or the shaft has to come out of the transmission on the other so the boot can be slipped on. Two piece simply snap around the shaft and are secured in place.
