Rheumatology is a specialty in medicine which deals to the treatment and study of rheumatic diseases that affects human. There are different types of rheumatism and is not confined to joints and connective tissues. Bones and muscles can also be affected with redness, swelling, heat and pain.

Diseases diagnosed or managed by the rheumatologist include: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, scleroderma, polymyositis, septic arthritis, gout, osteoarthritis, sarcoidosis, polychondritis, spondyloarthropaties, sjogren's syndrome, polymyalgia rheumatica, giant cell arteritis, temporal arteritis, Behcet's syndrome, Buergers disease, Kawasaki's disease, polyarteritis nodosa, soriatic anthropathy, enteropathic spondylitis, reactive arthritis and sarcoidosis.
