Can you explain camera lenses to me?

I am just getting into photography.

Camera lenses show different amounts, or angles, of a scene. A "normal" lens shows about the same as the human eye sees of the scene. A wide angle lens shows a wider angle, but makes objects seem smaller. A telephoto lens shows a narrower angle, but makes things appear larger.

No one lens will work for all situations. In addition to the various quality levels, there are telephoto lenses, closeup lenses and wide-angle lenses of various strengths, plus the zooms.

There are two types of lenses, wide angel and telescope. Telescope I would use for far away photos like moon shots, and wide angel is more panoramic.
