If you skip your sugar pils (placebo pills) & go directly into starting a new pack, taking active pills with hormones in them, you should not get pregnant and your protection should not be compromised. This is a common practice, called "stacking" your pills.

You always have a chance of getting pregnant no matter if you're on birth control or not. By skipping your sugar pills, you are just going to mess up the hormones in your body and possibly cause more serious health problems. The sugar pills are to help keep track of the days you need to take a break.

It's safe to skip, and it's a myth that skipping is unnatural. Taking birth control pills in general is unnatural, skipping is no more unnatural than taking the pill itself.

The week of sugar pills is meant for your period week, but as long as you are taking the real pills, the birth control should be effective.
