Can you give a dog amoxicillan?

Some vets do prescribe that particular antibiotic. I do not recommend that you dose your dog with your own prescription since the medicine would have to be prescribed for the particular weight of your dog plus it may not be the right antibiotic to try to treat him with.

Yes, you can but must be certain that the animal is not allergic to Penicillan as a life threatening reaction could occur quite suddenly. You should always consult your vet for the proper dosage instructions and NEVER give your animals prescriptions or over-the-counter human medicines without the consent of your veterinarian.

A dog can have amoxicillan, but it is likely to be dangerous in human sized doses. The best thing to do, if you would like to use medications you already have, would be to call your normal vet and simply ask them to call you back with the correct dosage.

You should never give your dog any medication unless your Vet says it's okay. While some human drugs are okay for dogs they could be lethal in the wrong doses.
