If you are using other software products made by Adobe(tm) then I would recommend Illustrator. If not, then Corel Draw is a very good choice.

Illustrator is a vector based, point to point program, developed to make smooth images. It's used mostly for graphic design and logo production. Corel Draw was developed to imitate actual real life drawing materials as closely as possible. It's mostly used in illustration, concept art, design, and fine arts.

If prices are equal, or money is no object, then Adobe Illustrator is the better choice. Coral Draw has been around for awhile, but Illustrator is the industry standard for graphic design applications. Along with Photoshop, InDesign and Acrobat, Illustrator is currently sold as part of Adobe's Creative Suite package.

Here is a comarison of illustrator 10 and corel draw 10. Nearly everything that you can do with corel draw you can do with illustrator as well. With corel draw you can not have pattern brushes, multiple strokes for objects, multiple fills for objects and the vector flare tool is missing as well.
