Can you please describe what the culture of consumption was during the Eisenhower administration?

To build up the economy after the 1930s Depression and 1940s war (all resources going to the war, causing rationing), the Eisenhower administration saw a huge boom in consumption from both 20 years of pent up demand being released and a baby boom.

The culture of consumption is the idea that buying material goods, things, makes one's life happier and better, so there is a good deal of advertising and buying during good times.
