Some scar tissue can be avoided by staying mobile. Walking, stretching and non-weight bearing exercises are helpful. Consult with your physician about the best time to start exercise and which ones to do. There are also various drugs and topical agents out there, that haven't been proven to work very well. But, you can discuss with your doctor.

No, you will not be able to prevent scar tissue from happening, as a scar needs to form for an incision to heal. In particular, areas such as the spine and chest region are more prone to develop abnormal scar development. Several treatment options include steroids and topical vitamin application.

Can you completely prevent scar tissue from developing after spinal surgery? No. But you can minimize it by having a good surgeon.

You will not be able to prevent all scar tissue, but if you prevent further injury or stress while healing, you will keep new scar tissue formation to a minimum.
