An oil-based stain mixed with latex will penetrate the wood to give the most protection and will also be easy to clean up.

The type of stain you use depends on the wood. You want to stay away from your soft woods like pine and cedar and stick with your hardwoods such as Oak or Maple. Make sure to use only pressure treated wood. That being said I like the Rainmaster brand of stains, they age well.

The best deck stain is clear wood stain, semi transparent deck stains is best for opaque deck stain. It gives good finishing and gentle look. Since this gives good finishing.
