Can you replace only the toilet tank?

The rest of the toilet is fine.

While it is possible to replace just the tank, you must match the old tank to ensure that everything will fit together properly. Another problem you may run into is often the toilet tanks are not sold seperately for any given brand. Either way, I reccomend replacing the entire toilet as a set.

They do sell just the toilet tank but usually by special order from select manufactures. Usually you are better off just spending the extra money and getting a while unit.

Toilets are sold at places like Home Depot and Lowes as a set. The tank and bowl come as two pieces but in one box. You can not purchase them separately. You can find a plumber to replace just the tank and you can save the bowl.

You can replace only the tank as long as it is still within public code standards and has the same bolt layout as your old tank. Make sure you get the proper match for your bolts, as they might need to be changed also.

Yes. The toilet tank detaches from the bowl. Turn the water off at the valve. Flush and drain the tank. Remove the supply tube from the tank. Remove the large screws in the bottom of the tank and lift it from the bowl. Replace with new tank and hardware.

Depending on the age of the toilet, and coloring, this may be possible. Toilet tanks usually only vary in capcity (3 gallon flush opposed to 1.6 gallon).
