Books and magazines get expensive and adds to the cost of your project. Use freebies first. Go to local public library, browse through books on landscaping and gardening. See what you like and dislike. A great way to get new ideas. Home improvement stores have a selection of similar books.
My favorite is Home and Garden. They always have wonderful ideas for landscaping a garden. I like that they have so many different styles in the magazine.
I would suggest Better Homes and Gardens. It has great ideas about how to design your yard according to climate and how to add things such as water features. They also make gardening books that I have found useful because they tell you how to manage certain types of plants.
