In most cases on a healthy animal the use of metal brushes presents no danger. Be sure to look for any lesions or scabs etc before use though as the metal tines will aggravate them.

I only use two brushes on my dog, both are metal, but not with hard teeth. One is a "slick" which is helpful for snags and mats, the other is a "pin" with rubber tips for general grooming. These are the preferable brushes for grooming, and come in appropriate sizes.

No. Some dog breed have extremely sensitive skin that requires special care and attentive grooming. If you are worried about harming your dog, contact your local groomer or vet to be certain.

You need to be careful using metal brushed on any kind of dog. Make sure the brush does not get to close to the dogs skin.

Usually this type of brush is used on a dog with long hair that is curly or wavy. A dog with short hair most likely wouldnt have that brush.

Different breeds of dogs usually require different grooming tools. Breeds have very different hair lengths, texture, and needs, and you need to buy grooming supplies that fit the needs best for your dog.
