They do. They emit naphthalene, a toxin that is carcinognic. Skunks hate it. However, it's actually illegal to use mothballs for a use not intended on the package.

Moth balls irritate a skunks eyes. Putting an old coffee can full of moth balls near a skunks hideout should ward them off.

In my experience, yes! I had skunks and raccoons under my backyard deck and after I scattered mothballs under the deck they moved away ASAP. The only drawbacks are that you have to keep replenishing them, and if the skunks can smell the mothballs, so can you. I've also had good results with an open container of ammonia.

No moth balls do not ward off skunks the only way I have found to keep them out of my garden is to put up a little electric fence otherwise they just go in there no matter what you do.

I don't know about that, but i do know that deer urine can get rid of skunks. This is sold in the Sporting Goods section of the store.
