Primrose plants are a low-growing plant that prefers cooler temperatures and likes indirect sun. Morning sun and sheltered or shaded afternoon sun is ideal. If you do not have the drought resistant variety, water frequently but keep the water off the leaves. Do not let them dry out.

They prefer cooler temperatures and some shade in hot months, although they can tolerate the direct sun in the spring. If the primrose is affected by the sun and begins to wilt, be sure to give lots of water at appropriate time of day. When the fall arrives, your plant should make up for summer wilt by producing more blooms.
