Does a birthstone make a good engagement ring?

Yes it does. When the concept of engagement rings was first beginning to gain momentum it was among the upper classes since they were the ones most able to afford jewelry. A birthstone in an engagement ring was considered good luck and your partner's birthstone in the ring was especially fortunate.

First make sure your fiancee loves her birthstone. If she does, then this can make a beautiful, meaningful, engagement ring. Whether the birthstone is the centre stone surrounded by diamonds, or appears as side stones with a central diamond setting, this would make a stunning heirloom piece, on its own or paired with a matching wedding band.

Engagement ring trends are changing so feel free to do what you would like with your own ring. The thing to remember is that the person you are giving it to matters the most. So would she prefer a birthstone or have a diamond accented with a birthstone?
