There is no constant rapport between your pharmacy and your Doctor's office. Usually they won't know if your prescription has been filled without some inquirery. Because people have varying medical coverage and can go just about anywhere it is difficult for a doctor's office to stay up on every filled prescription.

The answer to this question is no. However, certain medications can only be refilled after a specific time frame. For example, narcotics can only be refilled every 30 days. A doctors office may not know, but pharamcies with a national data base certainly do know when a prescription was last filled especially prescriptions involving narcotics.

Generally, no, a doctor's office wouldn't know if a prescription were filled, or if it were filled if you actually consumed the medication. It is up to the consumer to follow through with their prescription. The exception, I assume, would be if the medication is court-ordered and monitored.

Typically they do not go to the trouble of finding out, but they have the ability to call the pharmacy and find out if you have filled a prescription or not. They only have the ability to check on prescriptions that a doctor in that practice has prescribed. Otherwise they aren't priviledged to any other information.
