A double sink does share the same plumbing. Usually the drain pipe from one of the sinks will angle over to the other sink drain pipe, connect together, and the combined drain pipe will go through the trap and into the stand pipe.

Yes a double sink shares practically the same plumbing except for a length between the two of only around two feet.

Yes they do. More often than not, the two drains will connect to one another just under the sink beyond the p-trap.

Each faucet will have hot and cold water pipes coming from the same tap, and the waste water will likely be piped under the sink to the same drain pipe.

Some do and some don't. I've seen people with up to 5 sinks all sharing the same plumbing. You might want to call a plumber and get him to come down and take a look at what you're dealing with. You don't want to mess around with that kind of thing.

A double sink usally located in the kitchen and does in fact share the same sanitary line and water lines. Commonly refered to by the Pros as a "two compartment sink", the waste lines are tied together by a tee or garbage disposal and are discharged into the same waste line. The sink usually has only 1 faucet.
