I have some mustard that has been in my refrigerator for 3 years. Should I throw it out?

Yes. There should be a date on the mustard jar, but it may have rubbed off. Usually after 2 years it goes bad.

Mustard does expire. It can be kept unopened for up to two years. If opened, it can remain in the fridge 6-8 months before spoiling. I'd toss it.

I just found out that my mom is still eating mustard I donated to her fridge when I relocated to Thailand...NINE years ago! She won't let me toss it because she claims that it still looks and tastes fresh. Yeah right! :-p

Yes, this is too old. Most mustard expires within a year. You can be more certain of whether it is safe by checking the expiration date on the bottle, which is usually located on the lid or on the label of the bottle. However, it is safest to throw it out.

Mustard does not go bad for a long time but I would advise not taking the chance if it has been in there that long.

Mustard is like .79 a jar for hundreds of servings. Pony up and buy some fresh stuff. Yuck!
