Has anyone had their dog on Temaril?

Did it work?

It seemed to work about the same as other medications have for my dog's summer allergies. We used to give Pred and chlorpheniramine which was very inexpensive, so for the money- I was not impressed.

Temaril is similar to Cortisone...it is used for coughing, itching, and as an anti inflammatory agent. It has side effects such as tremors, muscle weakness, or drowsiness and other side effects associated with steroidal drugs. The benefits outweigh the risks however and if you have any concerns, regarding use of this drug, consult your vet.

I have a sheltie that has been on Temaril P since May. He is 11 years old and has had severe allergies for a couple years. I hesitated using this medicine, but honestly it is working and he is more comfortable than he has been in a long time.

My dog has been on Temaril for a cough. It has helped while she was on it, but after going off it she started coughing alot again. She's back on it and it is helping again. It does make her tired and she's gained weight. But, her cough has lessened.

Temaril-P is a steroidal anti-inflammatory that is very useful for treating acute or chronic allergies of the skin. It is commonly prescribed for acute cases of flea allergy dermatitis or chronic skin/ear allergies that do not respond to basic anti-histamines. Since Temaril-P is a steroid, long-term use can have side effects. Basic anti-histamines should be tried first.

Since this animal medication is still recently new, the best advice is to check around with various Veterinarians for opinions.
