Begin by researching your local and state laws concerning imported wine. They will offer guidance on what is required or allowed in your municipality, as well as Federally.

First look at the market to confirm that you can do these the US different states have different laws regarding the sale of alcohol. Be sure to check with your state laws to confirm that you can lagally do the business. After that get in touch with a broker who deals in alcohol importation.

First you need to secure a basic permit from the department of the Treasury, then you need to carry licenses in every state you are looking to import, and get TTB approval for the wines. it's a lengthy and costly process.

I would start by sampling wines from around the world and choose your favorites. That way, if the business doesn't take off, you can drown your sorrows with a wine you enjoy. However, to begin the import business, I would first see what state permits were necessary.

It is much more complicated then it seems to become a wine importer. Many of the US States have specific laws that concern the sale and transportation of wine. In addition the methods of taxation vary by state as we... Best to consult with a tax advisor who is aware of small buisness tax situations.

The easiest way to do so is to contact a wimemaker. And find out what the shipping will cost you. This way you can select the best wine for your shop.

The best way to start your own business of wine importing is to work for someone already in the business. As one needs to gain experience in the cost of wines and the many laws etc that affect the sale and transportation of wines into the United Sates from over seas.

My suggestion for becoming an actual wine importer would be to go through a broker. There are different laws for different places so you would have to know what places you'll be importing them from first.
