Building a chimney is fairly complex. I am a big fan of do it yourself projects, but this is definitely better off left to the professionals.

You will require lots of bricks and if you do not have masonry experience, you should definitely consult a professional. Make sure that a venting smoke area is left.

You should use a firepoof material to construct a chute. Next cut a hole in your roof making sure it fits exactly and insert the fireproof tube.

That would all depend on the type of chimney (stone or brick), location of the chimney on the house, and how big it will be. There is not enough information to answer this question.

To build a chimney, you have to get some bricks. Then you will have to make a vent through with the bricks. The bricks also have to be attached to either through glue.

If you are not a mason, then a brick fireplace and chimney is not a DIY option. However, natural gas fireplaces with direct vent chimney might be. You can Google for more info

The best thing to do is to design the chimney on paper first. Then you are going to want to buy the brick for the size chimney you want. You will also need grout to put it together and you are also going to need a topper so nothing can get in the chimney.

Lay out firebox. Start to build outside walls with brick or block . Fill in between the fill brick and mortar. Set damper and filling around it. Make sure it's air tight. Build smoke chamber. Set the first flue, then level and plum. Fill the top, and cap it off.
