There are different kinds of pilot licenses. Most commercial pilots learned to fly in the military. You can also pay tuition and attend flight school.

First, you have to pass a medical exam. Second, you must get the required hours of training from an certified pilot teacher. Then you must get flight time in.

Earning a pilots licence is by no means an easy task but it is certainly achievable given enough time, dedication and financial backing. The minimum requirements for an internationally recognised Private Pilots Licence (PPL) are 45 hours of instruction covering various different skills. In the UK, this can cost anything from £5000 - £7000 depending on the individual course.

Contacting the Aircraft Owners and Pilot's Association (AOPA) is a great place to start. They can point you to local airports with flight schools and put you in contact with local pilots. Take advantage of the "Be a Pilot" program and take an introductory flight lesson for $49.

There are two routes to a pilot's license: join the military after college and earn a spot in the pilot training program OR go to flight school, which are often located at a municipal/county airport. The cost depends on the type of license pursued.

I would start by looking for flight schools in your area. I know that in the Miami area, there are many different airports and many of them teach what you need to know in addition to in air experience. A friend of mine just got his pilots license down here.

Call your local airport authority for the names of flight schools in your area. There are different kinds of pilot's licenses that allow you to fly specific types of aircraft. Licensing requires classroom education, written exams, simulated flying time and instructor-guided flying time. Rates vary, but are generally set per hour.

You have to go through extensive hours of training with a licensed pilot and take several tests on the signals and controls. Before they give you your pilots license you have to have so many hours in the air.
