First of all, eliminate foods and drinks that cause gas, such as beans and cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower), and carbonated drinks. Avoid talking while eating. Anything that causes you to take in air through your mouth can cause gas. If these tactics don't work for you, try and OTC med such as Gas-X or Beano.

You can prevent stomach gas from getting worse by avoiding fiber enriched foods. Medications such as gas-x, the generic name is simethicone, can help relieve gas that is already present. Also movement, taking walks and stretching will help move the gas around in the body and therefore it can be expelled.

For acute gas, gently massage the abdomen and apply a hot-water bottle or heating pad to the area. Or walk around the house slowly for 15 to 20 minutes also.
