You can purchase books or find videos on the internet to give you a good concept of poodle grooming. A simple solutions is to take the dog to a groomer that will let you watch the process, like some pet stores, so you can see your dog specifically being groomed and follow those same patterns to keep the coat maintained.

Your local library or bookstore should have a good number of dog grooming books and DVDs available. Pet stores carry grooming kits and will sometimes offer lessons. Talk with your groomer and ask if s/he'll give you some tips for maintenance between cuts. That way, you only have to stretch the coat until the next grooming.

You can read a dog grooming book. Internet is also a good place to learn, many poodle discussion site and clubs have guides on home grooming. Youtube has video tutorials.

You need to tell the groomer that right out then and the groomer will work with you so you can do it the proper way and the dog can stay nicely clipped at all times. Don't get information online because if they leave something out then you'll make a mistake and have to pay the groomer to fix it anyway

The best way to learn how to groom a dog is to have an experienced groomer teach you. Ask a groomer you like to show you how to cut your poodle's hair.
