The dentist can scrape around your gumline and remove bacteria. He can fill cavities, and fit you with appliances to protect your teeth. He can instruct you in proper oral hygience, how to floss and brush and keep a regular check on your teeth, performing needed work when indicated. Teeth should last a lifetime. Your dentist is there to help.

Only you can keep your teeth from falling out, but that's by following your dentists instructions. If your teeth are so bad that they're falling out, there may be very little that the dentist can do, other than tell you how to keep your remaining ones healthy.

One option is to reverse the gum disease, so that they naturally hold in the teeth. Another option is to secure the teeth to other teeth that are firmly rooted. Or your teeth may be fixed into place onto the jaw.

You most importantly can keep your teeth from falling out. Brush regularly and the dentist won't have to do the repair work.

usually when teeth are loose it has more to do with the gums than the teeth, so a dentist could sent you to an oral surgeon who would evalute needs
