Muscle strains are tightened musccles. The correct way to cure a muscle strain is to rest it. Doing so will loosen your muscle over time. However, if you want faster results, a thorough massage will loosen it quicker. However do not work through it.

The best thing is to apply ice to it when it first occurs to reduce the swelling. By not using the muscle and letting it rest is the best way to help it get better. Aspirin and ibuprfen can help reduce the pain and inflammation. It is best to rest until the pain subsides.

You use a combination of things. First, you must take an NSAID like ibuprofen, 600mg every 8 hours for three days. Also, add on some ice for the first 24 hours, and relative rest - which means very simply, if it hurts, don't do it. That's why we were built with a pain system on board.

The best way to heal a pulled muscle is to give it ice immediately and to give it plenty of rest. Also taking anti-inflammatory medication to keep the swelling to a minimum. I you continue to strain the muscle you could easily cause more damage that could be much more serious.
