How can you make emergency doctors understand how much pain you're in?

They don't seem to listen.

It is hard for them to tell exactly what you feel. There is a pain scale that should be used and this can help them know your pain level. 0-10.

Its easy, be precise and tell your symptoms clearly. Don't try to elaborate your symptoms which may not be understood by them.

Whatever you do never over exaggerate your pain or continually complain to every nurse/doctor you see. Look for someone that stays with you for more than a few seconds.

First, be specific when describing your pain. Tell where it is and if it's sharp or dull, continuous or throbbing, and so on. Then use a scale of 1 to 10 to describe the pain's intensity, where 1 is mildly painful and 10 is so painful you can't stand it.
