How can you stop spitting while talking?

I always have to stop talking and swallow, or I accidentally spit on people when I talk which is embarrassing.

I am a qualified Dentist and pretonosist myself and i deal with many patients with these problems, drinking water and slower speech will help you cut down on the exess saliva in your mouth, also eating plenty of vegetables such as carrots and peas is an exellent solution

Well, you need to keep your mouth dry, drink more water, you shouldnt think about it cause that way you will have more spit in your mouth, and at the end maybe you should try to go to the doctor, and let them check you if you have any problems with thining spit.

I have to drink something, this ensures my mouth does not get dry and then creates more saliva so that I can avoid spitting when I talk.

Saliva production is encouraged by eating, drinking and smoking. If you talk while doing any of these, the risk of spitting is higher. Swallowing more frequently is the only solution.

Drink lots of water, this keeps your mouth wet, but not full of spit. You produce spit when your mouth is dry so just drink a glass of water when you start spitting or your mouth is dry. It works for me!

There could be more than one cause, so please don't dismiss others contributions. I spit/spray sometimes when I speak too fast and am anxious/excited

To stop spitting while you talk, practice enunciating all of your words carefully, in front of a mirror, for at least ten minutes every day. Try not to speak very loudly, as this may increase the quantity of spit you produce. Try swallowing your spit before speaking very loudly or in front of an audience.

I've never had a problem with spitting until six months ago and worse over past weeks. Seems stress-related. I've gone through a series of anxiey problems which seem to disappear and replaced by a new one. Instead of a twitching eys, or twitching hand, etc,, now it's the spitting.

Can these answers also apply to random drooling in mid sentence? I would like to help a loved one in need. I can't be sure if his bottom lip and it's ginormous size is actually the cause. Could that also be a factor?

I have the same random drooling problem and these answers connect but it could be dental problems. But his lips have nothing to do with it  add a comment

Best thing to do is go to your doctor for answers. If you never suffered with this before, then something may be causing it .  add a comment
