Vladimir Ilych Lenin died on January 21, 1924 after a series of three strokes that began in May of 1922. His third stroke was in March 1924, which left him mute and bedridden.

He died from a series of strokes. The first was during May 1922, the second was in December 1922 (which left him partially paralyzed), and the third was in March 1923, which left him unable to speak and confined to a bed until his death.
