How did pine cones become decorations?

I did it in the 60's. Can roll them in glue and put paper or glitter on them. Spray paint them too for any special occasion especially at Christmas.

Pine cones became decorations around the eighteenth century. They are closely associated with religious holidays, such as Christmas. Thus they represent something holy to certain people.
