You usually have to have it reset by a machine that does it. Simply fixing the problem will not make the engine stop coding. Some mechanics will do this for little to no charge. You can also by the machine that does it and do it yourself. FYI If the problem is not fixed completely the light will stay on.

There really isn't a way to reset it. If it is on it usually means there is a problem in the system. You should have a dealer run diagnostics on it to see what is wrong or check it out yourself.

This problem could simply be just a faulty switch in which case you would need to contact your local BMW dealership and set up an appointment to replace the light switch. Also this could be another problem such as low brake fluid, this is a warning that you have low brake fluid and replace the fluid soon.

I had this twice before, first time it was a sensor, second the dreaded 958 euro abs control unit. If it is the control unit save yourself the labor and do it yourself. Also do some research as I believe there is a company that refurbishes these units.

To reset the light you must disconnect the battery for at least one minute. After that you simply reconnect the battery and the light should go off as long as the problem is truly fixed. One thing that you need to check is if your radio has an anti-theft device that will lock out if you disconnect the battery.

I would first get out my manual. Under the correct category in the manual I would find dsc light reset procedures. I would follow these steps to reset the light. If this does not correct the problem I would go back to the dealership which made the repairs.
