Soak reed in mouth. Slide ligature over mouthpiece (tip up). Position tightening screw on right-hand side. Place tip/flat of reed on tip/flat of mouthpiece. Move ligature below line on mouthpiece and tighten. Grab large part of saxophone. Slide mouthpiece onto corked end of neck. Place neck on saxophone. Hook neck strap through loophole in back of saxophone.

Do this very carefully! With a careful screwing motion, put the arm and end together, add the smaller piece then the reed.

Hold the body securely and loosen the neck screw at the top. Gently push and twist the neck piece in to the body and secure the screw without over-tightening. Next, gently push and twist the mouthpiece into position onto the neck cork. Place the reed on the center of the table of the mouthpiece and secure it with the ligature.

Put the mouthpiece (the black part with the silver chaser) together with the reed (the little wooden strip). Screw the reed flat against the mouthpiece with the chaser. With the flat part down, the mouthpiece should fit right into the neck of the main body. There may also be a strap that clips onto a ring on the main body.

Saxophones come in three pieces, a body, a neck, and a mouthpiece. The non-cork end of the neck goes into the top of the body. The mouthpiece goes on the cork end of the neck. To ease assembly, rub some cork grease on both ends of the neck.

First you place the wet reed on the mouthpiece. Then attach the ligature, place the mouthpiece on the neck, and attach the neck to the body.

If you mean putting it together to play, take it out of the case. Then put the neck onto the body. The mouth-piece then goes onto the neck. Position the reed onto the mouth-piece and tighten it, and you're all set. May want to add neck strap, also!

To assemble a saxophone you start with the bell and connect the lower body, upper body, neck-piece and mouthpiece starting from the bottom up.
