Make sure to not spook the mother during the birth process. If you notice the puppies still have the slimy membrane on them you can remove it with a clean towel. Have a pair of sterile sharp scissors so you can cut the umbilical cord. Keep an eye on the puppies they should be nursing well after delivery.

Once the dog goes into labor, you can gently pull the puppies from the mother's vagina. Be sure your hands are clean and do not force the puppy out. Once each puppy is out, make sure the membrane around it is broken and give it to the mother to lick.

Have a nesting box set up. When you notice she is going to give birth, take her to the nesting place and wait for the puppies to come. If she doesn't take them out of the sack soon enough, they will suffocate, so you might have to take them out by breaking the sack and removing it from their face.

Nature usually takes care of the actual birthing process. Do locate a vet or pet hospital that is open 24 hours, or on call, if you should need them.

You don't really do anything. You just let her do her thing unless she is having a hard time pushing. If she has trouble get her to a Vet.

The biggest thing is knowing when to help and when not to. If she is having trouble you have to wait til there is a part of the puppy you can get ahold of then only pull when she pushes and don't pull to hard or you will hurt her.
