First, find a Chilton manual or similar detailed car repair manual for your year, make, and model car. Then go to store such as Advance Auto Parts and purchase the correct pads and extra brake fluid. Next, follow along with the manual doing exactly what it tells you to do.

Remove the wheel and caliper. It is held on by bolts (probably 7mm hex) from behind. Use a clamp to compress the pistons. Put the new pads in.

Well first remove the wheel. Then unbolt the caliper. then remove the old pads, compress the cylinder, install the pads, and re-install the caliper. You may have to compress the piston again to get the pads to slide over the rotor. Then re-install the wheel.

To install break pads on VW Jetta, you have to lift the front end of the car. Next, you remove both of the front wheels and then the brake pads.
