Right click my computer in the start menu and select properties. Then, press the remote tab and check off "allow remote connections" and press apply. This enables you to connect to your desktop from any internet connected computer. To connect, open up the remote desktop connection wizard on the remote computer and enter the ip address of the main computer.

You will have to check with the administrator of the network before proceeding and a third party tool like logmein or webex would need to be setup before remote access can be established. Alternatively use a 3rd party free online email service and connect via pop3 or smtp connection with 1 minute interval requests.

Outlook Express will just download your mail for you. The mail actually resides on a different server. So, you dont really need to access Outlook when you are away - you can access that server (which depends on your email service provider). Also, Outlook will only download when your computer-is-on!

The trivial solution would be to have a remote connection to the computer running outlook express. Or install a pop3 server like Dovecot that is mapped to the Express port.
