How do I troubleshoot a problem with my GE Profile gas range?

When working with gas appliances, always consult with an appliance mechanic because of the danger issue. For burners that won't light on the GE Profile, the most common reason is moisture on the igniter. Simply dry with a clean cloth and try again. For other problems, consult a repairman or your manual.

Turn off the gas before doing anything. Having the problem identified beforehand also helps. Once the problem is addressed do not open the gas valve than the first setting.
