How do I troubleshoot a sand filter on my pool?

There are a few things to look for when troubleshooting a Hayward sand filter. Is sand being deposited into the pool once it goes through the filter? If so, this could be the head gasket being damaged or blown. Is the pressure super high and doesn't come down with backwash? The sand may need to be replaced.

Start by going through the cleaning/priming process. If the problem persists then maybe change out your sand and if that does not work call a professional.
