I see two choices: find a good, specialty wine shop near you with knowledgeable staff. Talk to them about your preferences, budget and menu, and let them help you select a wine. Over time, your knowledge will grow. Second choice is to go to Costco and read their wine rating signs. Choose the highest rated wines within your budget!

Depends on what you wanting for in your wine. Are you looking to use it in cooking if so a white wine goes well with chicken and fish marinades. Are you looking for a certain wine that goes with a certain dinner than there are numerous combinations, ask your local wine seller (no pun intended).

The best way to select wine is to ask your waiter for pairing suggestions, I'd recommend going with a sweet wine as a desert wine, a white wine with pastas, and a red with meats and seafood. These seem to accent flavors the best.

First, choose whether or not you would like a sweet wine or a dry, full-bodied wine. Sweet wines taste sugary, and dry wines feel heavier and coat your mouth. Then, choose what notes you prefer, such as fruit, spice, or floral. After that, check labels or ask a sales associate to identify a wine that has the characteristics you chose.
