Go on criagslist for costa rica http://costarica. en. craigslist. org/. Search your car model in there you will see what other people are paying.

I'm sure they have some local "blue books" so to speak, like most cars that are sold it's a matter of what you think it's worth.

Check out local Costa Rica newspapers to get an idea of what the selling price should be. It will give you an idea.

Don't bother. In most parts of the Americas, you get more for your car if you sell it there. Costa Ricans have the luxury of importing cars from El Salvador or Honduras - 2 countries with depressed values on vehicles. Take your car to New York, sell it, and buy a different vehicle in Costa Rica.

It is good to let you know that the import duty of used cars in Costa Rica runs from 45% to 70% of the retail value of the car. When the car arrives, you will have to pay for inspection and insurance. Another thing to consider is the age of the car and availability of spare parts.
